Documentaries
I have assembled here several documentaries which, as of 2010, have not been commercially released on digital media. The documentaries have been uploaded on Youtube by R.E.M. fans from all over the world; I do not own any of the clips, I have just embeded them here. These documentaries cover various stages of R.E.M.’s long and successful career. The band members come across as clever, sincere, forthright and sometimes all too human – but that’s exactly why we love them.

The Seven Ages Of Rock – Part 6
Left Of The Dial: American Alternative Rock 1980-1994 (2007, BBC 2)
From its early underground days where bands like Black Flag drew inspiration from the DIY ethos of punk, Left Of The Dial traces the history of the network of fans, clubs and fanzines that sustained the scene and launched the careers of bands like R.E.M., The Pixies and Hüsker Dü. The film takes a fresh look at the explosion of the Seattle scene, culminating in the success of Nirvana’s ‘Nevermind’ and the tragic loss of Kurt Cobain, an artist whose triumph and tragedy continues to cast an inescapable shadow.

Athens, GA. Inside/Out – trailer (1986)
Here’s a trailer for the documentary Athens, GA. Inside/Out, filmed in 1986. The documentary captures the Athens music scene in the mid-1980s and, aside from R.E.M., it showcases the work of other local luminaries such as B 52′s, Pylon, Love Tractor, Method Actors, Kilkenny Cats and many other bands! If you haven’t seen this film yet, grab a DVD from Amazon here! In the clip below the film’s director Tony Gayton and editor Adam Wolfe explain what it’s all about, and you’ll also catch glimpses of Mike Mills with a basketball and Peter Buck in his pyjamas, showing his Elvis-dedicated bathroom!

Cassie, you can easily find e-liquids and even prefilled cartomizers with little or no nicotine. There are no carcinogens in ecigs or e-liquid other than some trace amounts. You are probably reading the same flawed information that the media has been regurgitating for the past few years. When the FDA first tried to condemn ecigs, they came out with a study that reportedly found carcinogens. It turned out that what they found was such a small amount that it made no difference and was probably due to contamination from their own testing process. The study was discredited, but groups that want you to buy prescription cessation aids are still treating it as fact.

Could you make mention of the SPECIFIC provision the bill that states this? I’d like to see the wording myself. THe problem is, when searching through the text of the ACA for “smoking” the only sections that come up are related to wellness programs, smoking cessation, nothing that says smokers get charged extra. If you could do that for me, I’d appreciate it, since I’m a smoker and so far all I see with these articles is a bunch of smoke, give me substance (specific section in the bill please).
