Hello everyone! I’ve just returned from a short holiday, and what a great piece of news to return home to! Namely, the uber-awesome Ken Stringfellow has updated his blog, and one could say that he and his buddy Mike Mills spent a very, ahem, constructive week in Paris together! I’m not gonna retell the story, so head over to Ken’s website pronto. (Keywords: R.E.M., The Posies, The Disciplines, red red wine.)
UPDATE: Although, as you have learned via Ken’s blog, the new R.E.M. record is still incomplete (read: Michael Stipe hasn’t written and recorded all his vocal parts yet), the publicity machine is already gearing up. The Yahoo News via PKLiving magazine offers a reflection on several recent (re)releases by veteran bands, including R.E.M.’s Live at the Olympia and Fables of the Reconstruction. Mike Mills is quoted several times:
On looking forward:
“The thrill of being in a band is writing a new song, rehearsing it with the guys and having it become something new and exciting. At the point you’re not doing that anymore, you can either quit or become a jukebox band, a greatest hits band. There’s nothing wrong with that. It’s just never a direction in which we’ve wanted to go.”
On playing vintage songs from the band’s vast back catalogue:
“It’s like trying on a shirt that you haven’t worn in 20 years. If it still fits, then it feels pretty good.”

Woo-hoo! We’re getting the D’s and the Posies’ albums this autumn, then R.E.M. in early 2011.
So guys, have you considered 31 January as the release date? The new R.E.M. would be the best birthday present I ever got.

The shirt still fits very well, mon cher Mike
Anyway, I’m waiting especially the new Posies’ album. In every kind of light was really great.
And look what has come out in September?

this is the link to Rolling Stones magazine. It talks about the new album, but is lacks alot!!! So…. I got a little used the interwebs to satisfy my Wanderlust for the new album, and I found a horn section being used!!! It reminded me slightly of “Beachball” off of Reveal! Those two well tequila-d guys who smile at strangers made me know that this new album will do fine…
PS- Ivana! Have you responded to my friend request on facebook yet?
